Brooklyn-born Leonard Frey won raves as Harold, the self-described "32-year-old, ugly, pockmarked Jew fairy," in the movie The Boys in the Band.
The actor went on to play Motel the tailor in the movie Fiddler on the Roof for which he received an Oscar nomination.
He died of AIDS in 1988 at the age of 49.
