The military farce Punahousut (1939), directed by Ilmari Unho, is based on a play by Valfrid Ahonen. The tarragon regiment moving to the small town charms the women of the locality. Only trade counselor Ottilia Mähönen (Aino Lohikoski) considers them brutal barbarians and is horrified when her daughter Irja (Helena Kara) gives her room to cavalry master Osmo Kyrö (Kullervo Kalske) who needs accommodation.
